Daryl “Tim” Holmes, son of Harry Holmes and Erma Evelyn Lansing Burk Holmes, was born February 16, 1917 on a farm near Rippey and died November 15, 2005 at the Rowley Memorial Masonic Home in Perry at the age of 88.

Tim attended school in Rippey, graduating with the class of 1934 from Rippey Consolidated School. He married Vera Lucille Conrad on October 20, 1940 at the United Methodist Church in Grand Junction. They were parents of two daughters: Linda and Ronda.

The family lived on a farm near Rippey until moving to Rippey in 1948. Tim worked for 40 years corn shelling with Joe Fouch. Tim and Vera also owned and operated the tavern in Rippey for 10 years. Tim was also employed by Oscar Mayer, retiring in 1980 after 10 years of employment.

Tim was a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge, as well as a member of the Elks Lodge, the Lions Club and the Commercial Club.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Vera; son Dennis, at birth; and son-in-law Reginald Peterson. He is survived by his daughters, Linda Peterson, Grand Junction and Ronda (Lee) Onken of Perry; several grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were Thursday, November 17, 2005 at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry with burial in Rippey Cemetery.
