Mary Brubaker Petersen age 83, of Perry and formerly of Rippey died on Friday, May 23, 2014 at Perry Lutheran Home in Perry. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 30, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at Carris Family Funeral Home in Perry. Visitation was Thursday, May 29, 2014 from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Carris Family Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to family and may be left at the Funeral Home.
Funeral services were held at the Carris Family Funeral Home on Friday, May 30, 2014 at 1:00 a. m.
Pastor Larry Monthei offered words of comfort. Midge Vannatta was the pianist for the service and accompanied Gary Haupert while he sang “Amazing Grace” and “In the Garden.”
Casket Bearers were Shawn Johnson, Adam Brubaker, Josh Brubaker Gene Hosch, Loren Mace and Todd Mace.
Burial was in the Rippey Cemetery, Rippey, Iowa.
Mary Eleanor Brubaker Petersen was born on April 14, 1931 at Perry, IA to Junious and Faye (Zartman) Repp. She attended country school and then attended Perry Community High School. She was united marriage to William Brubaker on September 11, 1949 at the Brethren Church Parsonage at Panther. She worked with her husband in the farm drainage business, at the mushroom factory, Perry Locker, owned the Rippey Café and the IBP cafeteria.
Mary attended the Rippey United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Dallas County Hospital Auxiliary, the Red Hat Society, Alice Blue Rebekah’s Lodge, GAB club in Rippey, Hobby Club and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed golfing, fishing, and camping.
Mary was preceded in death by husband, William Brubaker in 1988, parents, Junious and Faye Repp, a son, Donald Brubaker, a brother, Lyle Repp and a sister, Dorothy Mace.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathlene “Kate” (Peter) Johnson, Rippey, IA, sons, Daniel (Claudia) Edward Brubaker, Rippey, IA, Ronald Brubaker, Rippey, IA, grandchildren, Adam, Jill, Jeremy, Josh, Jerica, and Shawn, 6 great grandchildren and a sister, Alma Bice Partlow.
