Mary Huber age 87, of Jefferson, formerly of Rippey, died on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Regency Park Nursing and Rehab Center in Jefferson. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 31, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at Perry Bible Church in Perry. Visitation will be Thursday, August 30, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with family present to greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Carris Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in theRippey Cemetery in Rippey. Memorials may be given to Perry Bible Church and Regency Park Nursing and Rehab Center and may be left at the Funeral Home. Mary Ella (Young) Huber, daughter of Orsamus Fisher and Almeda Catharine (Rittgers) Young, was born May 6, 1925, at the family farm home three and one-half miles southeast of Rippey. Mary attended the Rippey Consolidated School and graduated May 17, 1942. During the school year of 1943-1944 she attended Iowa State University. From 1944 – 1946 she attend Iowa State Teachers College (today UNI) and graduated May 25, 1946, receiving a diploma in Kindergarten-Primary Education. She taught first grade in the Gowrie Consolidated School from 1946-1948.
She was united in marriage with Laurence Huber at the First Methodist Church in Rippey, June, 22, 1948. To this union two children were born, Robert Laurence Huber and Ruth Marie (Huber) Dobbins.
Laurence and Mary lived on two different farms northwest of Rippey. They bought their farm home from Mrs. Bessie Martin in 1958. Mary kept busy as a homemaker during those years.
Mary joined the First Methodist Church in Rippey, August 23, 1936. She served as Sunday School Superintendent and as a class room teacher in the Rippey Church. She held several offices of the United Methodist Women. She and Laurence were members of the Perry Bible Church at the time of her death. She was also a member of the Alice Blue Rebekah Lodge and K.Y.N.B. neighborhood club.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Laurence Huber, parents, Orsamus and Almeda Young, 4 brothers, Byron, Wallace, Orsamus Young and Baby Young at child birth.
Survivors include her son, Robert (Lyn Countryman) Huber daughter, Ruth (James Dobbins) Huber, grandchildren, Aubrey (Chris McRae) Huber, Kathryn Huber and Carole Dobbins.
