BRR riders will be in Rippey, Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019 for the 42nd ride from Perry and back. Over the years, they have experienced frigid temperatures and wind chills while plowing through a foot of snow, but they have also enjoyed spring like temperatures of 60 degrees as they did in 1987! That year, according to the paper, an estimated 1,000-plus rode and several businesses and organizations were open for business, including The Rippey Café, Kay and Rosie Lunch Wagon, TC and B Sports Supply, the legion as well as the Mason and Rebekah lodges. The businesses and organizations have dwindled and it’s harder to find the volunteers to help, but the riders, as always, will still find food and hospitality in Rippey.
It’s amazing to be visiting with someone in AZ and they actually have heard of Rippey because of the ride. The hard part is convincing them that the riders do ride, no matter what Mother Nature decides to share that day. She may be in a good mood this year, as the weather predictors indicate 40 degree weather for Saturday.
