Rippey will be celebrating its 150th on June 27, 2020!
A planning committee composed of current interested Rippey citizens is meeting now, in the spring of 2019, to plan the festivities for the celebration.
The date has been confirmed.
We are certain for a parade, a car show, old fashioned games, baseball, bingo, band concert, raffles, display of historical items, and a fire fighter’s contest.
Fireworks are being pondered, but they are extremely costly, probably about $10,000 for a full display.
At this time a budget is being prepared and fundraising plans are beginning. The fireworks are currently a dream, but many of Rippey’s former citizens can recall Wes Rittgers lighting fireworks at the ball field every July 4th. It would be fun to re-visit that memory, but with a real display.
Anyone wishing to donate for the sesquicentennial may send funds to: Friends of Rippey, PO Box 52, Rippey, Iowa 50235. Please specify how you would like your funds to be utilized for the birthday celebration.
Plan your vacation for a Rippey 150th birthday Hurrah!
