Jean Borgeson accompanied Phyllis Bardole to Carroll, where they visited Phyllis’s sister, Valerie Ogren. It didn’t take long before Jean and Valerie started talking genealogy. Jean brought the Old Rippey Cemetery information along with pictures of some of their relative’s gravestones Valerie had requested. Phyllis was very patient with our genealogy stories and their family history. The conversation soon turned to Duane and Ralph’s common ancestors in Sweden and finally ran out of time because the root beer floats were being served in the dining room, so we had to quit! The time went by quickly and it was an enjoyable afternoon. We took a county road south on our way home. We missed E-57 but wound our way to 141 and back north. It was a beautiful drive with the sun starting to set on the rolling fields of corn and beans.
