Robert “Bob” Swaink, 74, of Council Bluffs, formerly of Silver City, died March 10, 2011, in Omaha, NE. Funeral services were held Monday, March 14, 2011, at Peterson Mortuary in Glenwood with Pastor Darrell Hopp officiating. Interment was in the Rippey Cemetery, in Rippey, with Pastor Paul Burrow officiating at the gravesite. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Special selections, “Daddy’s Hands” and “Eighteen Wheels and a Dozen Roses” were played. Organist was Ardis Dusenberry.
Casket Bearers were Patrick Swaink, Josh Bohrer, Jake Boher, Jagger Boher, Nicholas Peterson, Scott Mancuso, Mark Mancuso, Richard Meloccaro, Jr., and Lee Vohs.
Bob was born May 10, 1936 in Malvern, Iowa to Otis Jesse and Dolly Regina (Strong) Swaink. He passed away on March 10, 2011 in Omaha, NE.
Bob was united in marriage to Glenda Lea Lape on June 19, 1960. They enjoyed forty years together until Glenda passed away February 14, 2001. Bob loved his job as a truck driver for Charlie Phelps haulling grain and livestock. He was talented builder and was always keeping busy whether it was working on cars, singing karaoke or just having fun with family and friends. Bob enjoyed playing tricks on people to make them laugh. He participated in the Little Britches Rodeo, loved listening to country music and spending time outside. Bob was a member of the V. F. W. and Eagles. He faithfully served his country in the Navy.
Preceding Bob in death were his parents, wife, brothers, Ervin and Gary Swaink; brothers-in-law, Rolland Lisle and Albert Lape.
He is survived by his children, Joyce and husband Fred Yost of Nebraska City, NE.; Rick Swaink of Lincoln, NE.; Mike and wife Trisha Swaink of Omaha, NE.; Owen Scott Swaink of Council Bluffs; Kimberly K. and husband Rex Adair of Bedford; Michel and husband Tom Emig of Eagleville, MO.; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Keith Swaink and Ethel Ward both of Riverton; Verma Ward of Anderson; Sharon Hendrickson of Essex; and Carolyn
