Because of the Coronavirus crisis, hundreds of Iowa libraries have closed to the public, staff are still working behind the scenes. One of many helpful threads on the state library Library Talk in recent days has centered on various tasks that library staff are doing during “in-person patron downtime.”
Combining suggestions from the state library and a few of our own, here’s a look at just some of the many things that our own librarian and her volunteers may be working on:
Clean the shelves while weeding the collection and take inventory
Tackle that stack of to-be-mended books
Clean and clean some more: file cabinets, closets, storage areas.
Prepare for the library 76th anniversary and if cancelled, include the history in the Sesquicentennial display.
Work on plans for the Summer Reading
