Rippey Community Room
The Sesquicentennial Planning meeting was called to order by Mayor Dan at 6:30 P.M. in the small community room. 7 persons were in attendance: Nancy Hanaman, Dan Brubaker, Pat Carpenter Monthei, Rick and Mary Fry Liebich, Lyle Rychnovsky, and Mary Weaver. Jennifer Stagg had called and said she was unable to attend.
Mary distributed the agenda and treasurer’s report. The Sesquicentennial fund is down to $10,152.00 as $10,000 was given to the City of Rippey to pay for the fireworks. The City paying for the fireworks lessens the cost by about $5,000 due to potential liabilities and governmental permits.
The ballpark portion is negative $533.08, and the Friends of Rippey portion is $15,307. 45. The bank account overall is $27,848.55.
Funds this past two weeks were spent on fireworks, concession stand supplies and a new light, and completion of painting at the ballpark. Income was $50.00 for merchandise, monetary donations of $1,175, baseball tournament $2010.
Arrangements have been made for 12 porta potties at $50.00 each.
There is room for 27 craft vendors, and 67 plus car show entries.
A street dance with a Rippey drummer band member is being developed. It will be held in the area of the car show, as the cars will be leaving.
The parade route is as follows: East from former school, to VonBehren or Russ Radabaugh house, (depending on your age) south or to the right, south to the County shed, east or left on Lovejoy to 3rd street, right on third to Sparky’s, and left to return to the school. Line up will begin at 9:00.
Arrangements need to be completed for a flyer that could be handed out at the Bell Tower parade along with the magnets. Lyle and George and maybe others will be walking the parade route and handing out the information about the Sesquicentennial. Nancy will determine if the Rippey fire truck is going to be in the Bell Tower parade and if an application has been completed.
A people mover is available from a friend of Dan’s at no charge, but will have to be picked up in Polk City. Dan Acton will provide a tractor to pull it. Dan Brubaker had pictures of it, and it is very sturdy, with permanent walk up stairs.
Mary has not heard from the Cattlemen. Will try to reach them again. No food truck vendors have applied.
Discussion of where and when to open the time capsule was tabled for this meeting, but a possibility is the library lawn.
It was determined we should provide Bingo in the west large community room.
Events were reviewed and we will be finalized next week.
Marketing will begin after the Memorial Day Holiday.
The next meeting will be held at 6:30 P.M. on June 6th.
