What a nice break in the weather for the celebration. The people in charge, while a sense of relief, should be very satisfied with the turnout and support they had, especially after the postponement last year.
I especially enjoyed helping the family researchers find their relatives in the local cemeteries. Some of us have been communicating for a while about their family trees, and to help them search the cemeteries to find the gravestones of their ancestors, who helped settle this area, is always a thrill for me. There were several family gatherings during this weekend and more seeds of interest were planted in the younger folks, who are wanting to know about their ancestors.
At the church, the crowd was filled with people discovering each other after decades. Their faces lit up after recognition, either right away or after they shared their names. (I had a few of those, myself.) Those young kids I had in Junior Choir in 1966 quickly reminded me how long I have lived in the area!
While I didn’t get too far from the church, reports from those who explored everything had only good things to say about the day and evening. Again, the committee should be feeling very satisfied and grateful to each other for this successful day!
