Paul Carrel and his daughters, Kat and Lauren, of, Massachusetts, visited with their Iowa family members on Saturday, October 24, 2021. Those joining for lunch in Woodward were Dean and Elayne Bice of Johnston and their daughter Dena Losen, of Urbandale. Paul’s father, Wayne Carrel, was a brother of Jean and Elayne’s mother, Hope (Carrel) Darling. Many memories were shared of Paul’s visits to Woodward when they were all children.
After lunch, the Carrel’s drove to a farm, near Rippey and were able to drive to the field where Michael and Robert Borgeson were harvesting corn. The girls especially enjoyed actually being able to walk in a real cornfield and were amazed how tall the corn was. Watching the combine process up close was a real treat for them.
A quick stop at Jean’s farm and a brief visit with Alan, Sarah, Kane and Kale Borgeson, the Carrel family left to return the rented car and catch a very early flight back to the east coast. They all vowed to allow more time and to bring more family members on their next visit to Iowa!
