Rippey Depot To Be Closed
The Northwestern Railroad Company had authority Friday to post notices in 15 small Iowa towns, of which Rippey was one, that the station depots are being closed and the jobs of station agents will be eliminated. The authority was granted by the Iowa Commerce Commission in an order summarizing recent hearings.
By eliminating the regular station agents, the business will become part of a Northwestern Central Agency plan in which they will give partial service.
The plan will become effective as soon as the necessary orders are given.
The Rippey station has been served by several supply agents since the resignation of Earl Yantis last September.
Most of the shipping now done by the railroad is from the Co-op Elevator Co., which does a greater part by trucks. This service will probably be continued as partial service.
