“The Fry Auto Company, located on the north side of Main Street between 2nd and 3rd Streets, was organized in 1917 by Mr. M. F. Fry with his son, George, as a partner. It has held the Chevrolet agency since that time. After the fire of 1912 in this location, a brick building was constructed and occupied by the Fry Auto Company in the main part, and the Thornton Harness Shop was located in the west portion. Another son, Everett Fry, who is the present owner, began work in the garage in 1925. Everett bought his brother’s share in the garage in 1931. Two years later when Mr. Fry died, in 1933, Everett acquired his father’s interests. He also sells television and radio sets. General repair and service business require the assistance of several people—at present, one helper is Ray Temple, who has been with the company since 1933 and is shop foreman and mechanic. Donald Anschutz is general mechanic and has been with the company since 1951. The building west of the original garage was purchased in 1965, to be used as an additional sales display room.”
Morris Fleming Fry died June 2, 1933 at the age of 73, in Rippey.
George McKinley Fry died January 29, 1979 at the age of 83 in San Jose, CA.
Everett “Jiggs” Claude Fry died October 13, 1986 at the age of 80, in Rippey.
Raymond Theodore Temple died November 15, 1970 at the age of 69, in Rippey.
Donald Richard Anschutz died September 9, 2005 at the age of 95, in Perry, IA.
All are buried in the Rippey Cemetery.
