Leona Nation died January 24, 2009 in San Diego California at 98 years of age. She was born in Guthrie County to Ernie and Josephine Truax. She and her husband Vaughn farmed in the Rippey area, and retired to Perry prior to moving to San Diego in 1994.
She was preceded in death by her husband Vaughn, a granddaughter, her parents, and her brothers, Lavern and Clifford Truax and her son-in-law Peter Choconas. She is survived by her sister, Anita Snyder, her daughter, Joan Choconas Evangelou, 3 granddaughters and 6 great grandchildren, her nieces, Beverly Finnegan and Barbara Skinner, and her nephews Monty and Gary Snyder. In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by Vaughn’s nieces and nephews, Joan’s husband, Dr. Milton Evangelou and his extended family.
Her daughter Joan submitted the information for this obituary and added, “She became an avid doll collector. It was a passion for her.”
