Robert Arnold Rains

Robert Arnold Rains (Bob) passed away 7 January 2024, in Spokane, WA.  Bob was born 22 Oct 1941 and died on 7 Jan 2024.  Bob had suffered a lot of medical issues in the last 12 years, most recently from Myasthenia Gravis. 

Bob was a son, brother, husband, step father, uncle, and a great uncle.  He graduated from Glidden HS in 1960, attended college at Boone Jr College, Iowa State and graduated from NWMSC in 1965.  His working career was with JC Penny, Clough Clothing and Texaco Oil Co.  With Texaco he held various positions working up to an Assistant to various CEOs and CFOs, retiring in 1997.

The cremains were buried at the Rippey, IA, cemetery on 24 Aug 2024.

He was an avid collector with guns, knives, watches and Ford cars and trucks.  He was a walking statistical expert with cars and trucks.  He also liked to hunt and loved going to the rifle range to shoot.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents Roy & Evelyn Rains; brother, Jerry Rains (Renee).  He is survived by his wife Becky; stepdaughter Karen and step granddaughter Sophia; brother, John (Jody); nephews Jeff and Tim Rains and five great nephews and three great nieces.

In January 1960, Roy, and Evelyn, along with John and Jerry, moved to Rippey, where they owned and operated the Rains Clover Farms Store. Bob stayed in Glidden to graduate with his classmates. After retiring from the grocery store in May, 1975, Roy refinished and repaired antique furniture. He and Evelyn were caretakers of the Rippey Cemetery and the “Old” Rippey Cemetery for many years.
