Betty Joan Oman, 72, of Ruthven passed away Saturday, February 5, 2005 at Mercy Health Center in Mason City. Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 9 at United Methodist Church in Ruthven. Rev. Jim Gochenouer officiated at the 1 pm service. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery in Terril. Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Ruthven were in charge of the arrangements.
Casket bearers were Jack Harris, Dick Cacek, Mike Geelan, Raymond Harris, Dave Smith and Fred Ferguson.
Betty Joan Oman, daughter of Gust and Vivian (Morgan) Guatafson, was born January 14, 1933 near Colfax. She attended school in Rippey, graduating from Rippey High School in 1950. Following graduation Joan and her family moved to Ruthven where she met Leonard.
On June 4, 1951, Joan was united in marriage to Leonard Oman in Jackson, MN. To this union three children were born.
Joan helped Leonard in the upholstery business for many years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ruthven.
Mrs. Oman was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard in 1993; and a sister Nancy Hanson.
Betty is survived by her children, Ted Oman of Ruthven; Linda Kreibaum and her husband, Ken of Rossie; and Theresa Oman of West Des Moines; a sister, Pat Harris and her husband, Spud, of Sheldahl; other relatives and friends.
