Betty Watts, 74, of Rippey died Wednesday, September 22, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. In accordance with her wishes, her remains were cremated and no services were held. Brown Funeral Home in Jefferson was in charge of arrangements.
Betty Croghan was born June 27, 1930, at Sheldon, the daughter of LeRoy and Annie (Wesslink) Croghan. She lived in the Council Bluffs area for many years.
She married Frank Watts on May 12, 1961, at Omaha, NE. The couple moved to Paton in 1976 and Betty operated the Watts Cafe until 1979. They moved to Texas in 1980 and Frank died in 1984. Betty retired and moved to Rippey in 1992. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include five sisters, Virginia Boekhoff of Paton, Collen Croghan of Davenport, and Beverly Sage, Laura Pedersen and Mary Croghan, all of Council Bluffs; and two brothers, Kenneth Croghan of Abingdon, VA, and Dennis Croghan of Council Bluffs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother, Warren.
