Toni Roberts accompanied her granddaughter, Lindsay Rinehart and son, Bentley, to Winterset Saturday, May 14, 2022 to attend the dance recital that granddaughter Addie Burkett performed in. Addie, daughter of Wendy and Tony Burkett, is a Junior and portrayed the part of Scar in the production of The Lion King.
Later, Lindsay’s husband, Randy, Chris and Brenda Roberts enjoyed dinner at the Tin Pig in Perry. It was an enjoyable day spent with her granddaughters.
Sunday, May 15, 2022 Toni was on the road to Winterset, accompanied by her good friend (and honorary Grandmother) Jean Borgeson. The occasion was the graduation reception for Toni’s oldest granddaughter, Josie Burkett. Josie, oldest daughter of Wendy and Toni Burkett of Winterset, shared the reception hall with friend and neighbor and fellow graduate, Josie Beeson in the Fellowship Hall of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Winterset.
The celebration and exhibit of Josie’s high school career was made even more poignant by the display of her many music, academic awards, medals and even her 4-H record book, many of which were recovered by volunteers and family following the March 5 devastating tornado that destroyed the Burkett’s home and many others.
Among the family and friends attending were Lori Bardole and Brenda Roberts of Rippey and Matt and Sara Roberts of Boone who were part of the kitchen help for the event.
Josie will attend the University of Iowa in the fall, continuing a family tradition.
Toni and Jean returned home, weary, but happy.
