This was written after the Historical Dinner hosted at the Rippey United Methodist Church in 2011.
It turns out that “the dinner to remember” was only Chapter I of the continuing story! Sunday morning the masher was found in close to where it was supposed to be but covered with something in a box and on Tuesday the burner was tested and would still work. Whew–no harm, no foul!
Chapter II
After all of that excitement the potato masher was placed on it’s proper shelf. Retelling the story of the missing masher at ToJo’s in Jamaica, Tommy presented me with her potato masher, as she uses her Kitchen Aid machine instead of the hand masher. Well, this masher was even larger than the church masher. Thinking I was clever, I taped the two mashers together, added a note of apology for running away, but I had brought back “a friend” and a masher wedding was being planned. I put the two mashers together and waited for them to be discovered.
Imagine our surprise when we found a red ribbon around the mashers and there was a “baby masher”! It doesn’t take much to entertain us! Will there be a Chapter III?
