The final interment of ashes for Philip Roberts was held Saturday, June 25, 2022 at the Rippey Cemetery.   Besides Toni Roberts, the following family members attending were Chris and Brenda Roberts, Lori and Tim  Bardole, and Marshall Roberts and friend, Elizabeth Blakeman, all from Rippey; Lindsay Rinehart and Bentley of Bettendorf; Sarah and Corey Bradley and children, Camden, Corbyn, Cayson, and Corsyn of Winterset, Wendy and Tony Burkett and daughters,  Josie, Addie, and Lily, also of Winterset; Karen Rooney and children, Dominik, Jordan, and Riley and Schyler and Lauren Bardole and sons, Adam and Luke, all from Churdan; Mallory Dillavou and children, Jodin, Kylynn and Zavin of Jefferson; Quill Bardole, also of Jefferson; Matt and Sara Roberts of Boone; and Stacey Barber of Algona.

Pastor Cat Stokes officiated at the service.  The four Roberts children, Chris Roberts, Lori Bardole, Matt Roberts and Wendy Burkett spoke of their memories of their dad, as well as Toni’s niece, Stacey Barber and daughters-in-law, Brenda Roberts and Sara Roberts, and several of the grandchildren.  Toni concluded with her memories of the last 60 years with Philip.

Following the benediction, granddaughter Addie Burkett played Taps.  Before leaving the site, Toni gave dried rose petals from Phil’s funeral service to family members to keep or scatter at the gravesite.

With a lot of laughter and sometimes tears, recounting the many memories of Philip’s life made this a joyous event, a celebration of a life well lived and much loved.

Afterwards the family returned to the Rippey church for a luncheon by Toni and Philip’s good friends Maralynn and Myron Rinker.
