Good Afternoon Friends of Rippey people,
I am very happy to announce the Friends of Rippey was awarded $6,045.00 yesterday by the Greene County Community Foundation for Safety Measures for the Rippey Baseball Park. This was the amount of money requested and will be used for refurbishing the baseball grandstand, and painting the back side in the upper hard to reach areas. A portion of the required 25% match for this application was from the City of Rippey to secure and install a tile safety covering for the top of the chain link fence.
The refurbishing of the grandstand structure, the painting, the installation of the safety tile, and extension of the safety warning track in the outfield will optimistically be completed prior to the May 14,15, and 16 older adult tournament being played in Rippey.
Funds have come from individual donors, the Greene County Board of Supervisors, the City of Rippey, and now the Greene County Community Foundation. We are very grateful for these donations and awards.
These measures will create a safer environment for the players for the tournament as well as the “old timer’s game” to be played during the sesquicentennial celebration on July 31st at 3:00 P.M.
Thank you to the donors, the City of Rippey, the Greene County Board of Supervisors, and the Greene County Community Foundation.
Others who may still wish to donate, equipment to care for the field, an improved drinking fountain, the purchase and placement of a flag in the outfield remain on the “wish list” for the Rippey Baseball Park.
