An intriguing picture on the Library Shelf is Hidden Figures: The True Story of Four Black Women and the Space Race by Margot Lee Shetterly. Ms. Shetterly also wrote an adult book about these remarkable women. Dorothy Vaught, Mary Jackson, Katherine Johnson, and Dr. Christine Darden were important mathematicians and engineers during the early days of NASA and through the astronaut journey to the moon. John Glenn insisted that Katherine Johnson recheck the computer figures for his trip around the earth.
There is a DVD at the Library of their story also.
