A warm welcome to our new librarian, Cara McCoy. Cara has been busy in the library and planning events for all ages in the days ahead.
A recent addition to the Rippey Library is the Chasing Me To My Grave by Winfred Rembert as told to Erin Kelley, winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Biography for 2022. This book “is a searing memoir in prose with his amazing painted leather art that celebrates Black life and summons the reader to confront the urgent realities at the heart of American history and society.”
The book has a Rippey connection through Sharon Bardole McBlain and her husband, Phil, who met Winfred and his wife, Patsy, in New Haven, CT, where they all live. Phil helped Winfred begin working with his leather pictures, including those depicting his early life in Cuthbert, GA. It is a very interesting and compelling book to read.
