Great Friendships Were Forged

During the few days of rainy weather, I took the opportunity to venture into a closet that held some long forgotten, unmarked boxes.  I remember, vaguely, when the move from the old library to the new, that these were put in my car, “to look through later!” I discovered the scrapbooks the Amitie Club had kept for each year of their existence!  They were a busy bunch!  These scrapbooks are full of news n articles  about  each year’s projects. The volunteers for the library Summer Reading sessions were of great interest. Velda DeMoss wrote an article for the Heritage of Greene Greene County about the club  and in it she stated, “At the time that the club decided to disband, many of the members were daughters or daughters-in-law of the original members.  The club did serve as a was to have friendships as well as supporting many worthwhile causes.”  And so it was with all the service organizations.  As I belonged to some, I have good memories working with some great people on the projects that were benefiting the community.  Great friendships were forged, that’s for sure!
