Bardole Holy Week Travels

Roy and Phyllis Bardole traveled to Wauwatosa, WI, the last week in March to babysit Levi, Kate, and Chase. Allison had a meeting in Chicago and Jason traveled to Makokata to a Husco plant there.
We also took up a desk Roy had made for Levi. He had ordered one with secret doors! The top shelves would not fit in our car. We took the kids to school each day and several activities. We came home on a Friday since we had several appointments and meetings ourselves the next week. On Tuesday Jason called to say he had torn his Achilles tendon playing basketball.
On Wednesday my sister Valerie Ogren and I celebrated at Angie’s Teagarden for my belated birthday dinner. Better late than never!
That night and the next day we went to Ankeny for a Master Farmer Meeting. It was the 22nd that I heard about the fire next to Ben’s Five and Dime that ruined everything in the store! That meant I was without a job.
Jason’s surgery was planned for March 23rd so we left that morning to go back to Wisconsin. We tried to put the top of the desk in our car but it wouldn’t fit. Jason’s surgery went well and he was able to come home by 9 pm that night. He spent the next week with his leg up and worked from home.
Roy needed to get back to Iowa for meetings and appointments, so he left Monday after having new tires put on our car. I tried to keep up with the kids the rest of the week. I had a fall that was scary, but I came out OK. Roy drove back up on Good Friday with our grandson Gabe. They brought a pickup, so were able to bring up the rest of Levi’s desk.
We had a fun weekend. On Saturday we visited the Harley Davidson Museum.  It was interesting and Jason took his “cart” so he could get around.  The family had planned a ski vacation in Vail Colorado for spring break, so they were pretty bummed they couldn’t go.  Roy, Phyllis and Gabe left Easter Sunday to come  home.
