Jim Church passed away Friday February 1, 2008 at Hospice Kavanagh House.
The mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday February 5th at Christ the King Catholic Church.
Jim was born October 11, 1937 in Des Moines the son of Stanley and Alice (Furlong) Church. He grew up in Des Moines and after graduating served two years of active duty in the Navy. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service and the Army Reserves. He belonged to Christ the King Church and was a past member of the Holy Name Society. His hobby was drawing and painting. He was married to Marilyn (Correy Friel).
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and sister Rose Pincus. He is survived by his wife Marilyn and sons David(Kim) Church of Des Moines, Andrew(Stephanie) Church of Northfield, MN, Brian(Marcia) Church of Ames, daughter Catherine Blaskovich of Des Moines, step-son Mark Friel of Ames, 14 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Monday February 4th from 6-8:00 P.M. with a vigil service at 7:30 P.M. Burial was in Franklin Township Cemetery at Cooper, Iowa.
Memorial contributions were made to the Hospice of Central Iowa or Christ the King Church.
