I was asked to volunteer at the library recently and found it quite enjoyable. My first patrons were some youngsters, who used their well-worn library cards. They were familiar enough to be able to help me get use to the scanner, when it wouldn’t scan. They were so patient and polite, visiting with me while other family members were choosing their books.
Like Nancy, I too, discovered some interesting books, while dusting the shelves. I especially enjoyed The WPA Guide to 1930s Iowa. It highlights many of the projects completed in Iowa during the years of the depression. It includes a section of 17 different tour guides highlighting the individual projects. I didn’t read all 544 pages, but found projects close to home that would only take a short day to visit. I may run away when it gets warmer!
