Jean’s Jottings

I enjoyed Thanksgiving with Michael, Jill, Jace and Seth.  Dinner was furnished by Sharon and Chuck Patton of Perry, with the help of the HyVee Cooks!   Dessert consisted of Jill’s pumpkin bars and I brought oatmeal cookies.  After lunch and before everyone started to leave the two grandmothers insisted on some family pictures, which the rest tolerated with humor.  It was a fun day with that family.

Daughter-in-law Sarah texted me Friday morning and asked if I wanted to join them at her mom and dad’s for their Thanksgiving gathering on Saturday.   Those attending were the hosts, Al and Ann Frederick, and their children and grandchildren: Sarah, Alan, Kane Borgeson and Ally Gehling, Rippey and Kale Borgeson, Desoto; Liz and Bret Pierce, Laura and Allie, Woodward; Mary Hinton, and daughter, Taylor and her friend, Ty Hutchison, Adel; and Bill and Melissa Frederick, Leah, Kate and Audrey, Jefferson.

There was plenty of food from the great cooks in that family!  I did notice my peanut butter cookies were a hit on the dessert table by the younger kids, even before the meal was served!

After being startled by an exploding crock pot, the meal was served.  Three or four sets of card games were played during the afternoon, some more serious than others.  I was at the kids table, where I enjoyed playing Sequence, UNO and War with some pros!

One of the youngest girls was playing with an old tea set belonging to the Frederick girls and I was served lemonade while we had a quiet two minute conversation before she was distracted by someone else.  Yes, it was a Thanksgiving to be thankful for.
