The Rippey Library monthly board meeting was July 27, 2020. Welcomed to the board were new trustees, Elizabeth Blakeman, Kyle Mowrer, Dee Ann Thompson, and Jess McKim, who was unable to attend. We discussed several new ideas and goals for the library.
I have ordered some more books. One is about John Lewis. Another one by Curt Warner tells about their family’s struggles with autism. We really have a lot of new books available to check out. A lot of the books have gone out right away, but there are still a lot to choose from.
We had our Bubble Parade July 29th at 10 Am. It was moved down to the park. There were 24 children and adults in attendance. It was a nice summer diversion. Thanks to board members, Brenda Roberts, Lyle Rychnovsky, and Cindy Devilbiss for leading this. The children received book, bubbles, bookmarks, and another toy. Some were things Brenda had planned to give out at Summer Reading, which may not happen. All six Greene County Libraries were able to enjoy this program, thanks to the funding of the county supervisors to the Greene County Library Association.
On September 17th the G.C.L.A. and the Greene County Supervisors will sponsor the Greene County Reads. This year the book discussion will be the beloved classic by Louisa May Alcott. Jan Scharingson will be the discussion leader. There will be more information, but the Paton library, Grand Junction Library, and the Jefferson Public Library will host this event. Contact your Library for the link to the virtual Zoom discussions if you don’t feel comfortable going to an in person discussion. One person at each discussion will win a copy of Little Women! Contact your local library for more information, register to attend a discussion, and check out a copy of Little Women or related book or movie.
