Funeral services were held Friday morning, Oct. 22, at First United Methodist Church in Guthrie Center for Lorraine Mower, 79, of Guthrie Center, former Perry area resident.
The Rev. Annette K. Ruhs Kruse officiated and sang, with Debbie Menning as organist. There was also congregational singing. Honorary casket bearers were Traci Leff, Jacalyn Walton, Ian Heisterkamp, Elizabeth Rachut, Kira Heisterkamp and Kyle Mower.
Casket bearers were Bob Livers, Roger Andersen, Rick Robson, Mel Sheley, Steven Rachut and Scott Leff. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery north of Perry.
Hastings Funeral Home in Perry was in charge of services. Memorials for the family may be left there.
Lorraine Mower, daughter of Merle Johnson and Inez Mohr Johnson, was born Nov. 22, 1930, in Perry. She died Oct. 18, 2010, at The New Homestead in Guthrie Center.
Lorraine graduated from Perry High School. On Jan. 9, 1949, she married Floyd Milton Mower at the Baptist Church in Perry. They were blessed with three children, JoAnne, Sally and Bryan. The farmed north of Perry for many years, and in 1972 moved to a farm in the Guthrie Center area. After Floyd’s death in 2003, Lorraine remained on the farm until moving to Perry to make her home. She entered the New Homestead a year ago.
Lorraine’s main joy was caring for her family and being involved with them. She also enjoyed sewing and cooking, and was an avid gardener, raising many vegetables and flowers. Her love of cooking led her career of providing wonderful meals for Knox Knoll Church Camp, Clover Ridge conference Center, The Conservation Education Center east of Springbrook Park, and for many years at the Woodward Resource Center.
Lorraine was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church north of Perry and attended First United Methodist Church in Guthrie Center. She had enjoyed her memberships in the Rebekah Lodge and the Monteith Community Club.
In addition to her husband, Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents.
