Dick Fry, 79, entered his eternal life on March 2, 2009 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. There was a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Friday March 6, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, of which he was a member. Visitation was 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the church with a Wake Service being held at 7 p.m.
Dick was born in Chicago, Illinois and had lived in Rippey, Durant, and for the last 23 years in West Des Moines. He was a US Air Force Veteran and loved to play a round of his beloved game of golf. Dick was a school principal in Rippey and Durant. In Durant, Fry was the high school principal from 1967-1985. In 1983 he coached the boy’s golf team to the state title.
He will be missed by his wife, Vigie; daughters Teri (BJ) Harvey of New Orleans, LA and Mary (Kevin) Rocha of Wadsworth, Ohio; stepson, Mark Rocha of West Des Moines; stepdaughters Monica (Bob) Smith of West Des Moines and Michele (John) Dawley of Marshalltown; and ten grandchildren.
Memorials were made to his church or the American Diabetes Association
Illes Westover Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
