Funeral services for Nadine Anderson, Rippey, were held May 26, 2009 in the Rippey United Methodist Church with words of comfort by pastor Deb Parkison of the Rippey United Methodist Church and Pastor Larry Monthei of the Hope United Methodist Parish.

    Honorary casket bearers were Don and Mary Coon, Darwin Johnston, Doris Stewart, Dale and Virgene Morse, and Steve and Michelle Wilkening.  Organist was Marjorie “Midge” Vannatta who accompanied Marianne Carlson, Gina Harington, and Teresa Shahan, who sang, “How Great Thou Art” and “I Can Only Imagine”.  Ushers were LaVere Derry and Dennis Ulrich.
      Nadine Louise Anderson was born on the family farm near Grand Junction in Greene County, Iowa on June 25, 1921 and died May 20, 2009 in Perry, IA, at the age of 87 years, 10 months and 29 days.  She was the daughter of Ray Johnson and Mary Ellen (Thompson) Johnson.  Nadine attended Rippey school and graduated from Rippey High School in 1939.  Her first year of college was at Iowa State.  Nadine graduated from the University of Northern Iowa and then started her teaching career.  She also received an education degree from Drake University.  She taught elementary school in Sutherland, IA, Rippey, Cooper, the YJB school district and in the Perry Community Schools.
    Nadine married Walter Kenneth Anderson on November 30, 1947.  They had three daughters, Deborah Lee who died in infancy, Kristine Kay, and Cynthia Sue.
    She was an active member of Rippey United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, where she served as president for several years, Eastern Star in Rippey, and Searchlight Club.
    Nadine enjoyed quilting with the church women, along with helping with annual bazaars and other church activities.  Some of her hobbies included reading, bird watching and maintaining a beautiful flower garden.  But her favorite joy was just spending time with her family and friends.
    Nadine moved to Spring Valley Assisted Living Apartments, Perry, Iowa in 2005.  She enjoyed the wonderful staff and made many special friends in her years there.
    Nadine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Walter K. Anderson, infant daughter Deborah Lee Anderson, and sister-in-law Marjorie Vannatta.
    She is survived by her daughters, Mrs. Kristine Goodwin (Dr. Courtney Goodwin) of Minneapolis, MN and Mrs. Cynthia Cole (Ronald Cole) of Omaha, NE; grandchildren, Curtis Goodwin and Kirsten Goodwin of Minneapolis, MN and Corley Goodwin of Kirkland, WA; Julie Cole, Megan Cole, and Bret Cole of Omaha, NE,; sisters, Mrs. LeJane Dillivan (Maurice) of Jefferson, IA and Maxine Johnson of Rippey, IA; brother-in-law Ben Vannatta and wife Marjorie “Midge” of Perry, IA many special nieces, nephews, and friends.
    Hastings Funeral Homes of Jefferson and Perry, was in charge of the services.
