The Rippey Lions Club held the first meeting of the fall at Dale and Nancy Hanaman’s home. Members and a guest enjoyed a potluck meal. President Greg Jacobs led the meeting. All appreciated being part of the Rippey’s 150th+1 celebration with the float and other activities. It was decided not to host a fall community picnic but to wait until next summer. Possible community projects were discussed including new baskets for the skating rink area, volunteering to help for baseball game concessions.
In the past year the Rippey Lions had donated to the Leader Dog program and to Camp Hertko Hollow which serves children with diabetes. Myron and Maralynn Rinker’s daughter, Marilee, participated as a camper and a staff person. Members will look into sponsoring a vaccination clinic for children 12-18 years old and others in the Rippey community.
The next regular meeting will be Thursday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. at the Rippey United Methodist Church beginning with a meal served by the Rippey UMC.
