Robert Heater died February 27, 2009 at Jefferson, Iowa.
The funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday March 2, 2009 at the Hastings Funeral Home in Perry, Iowa. Words of comfort were spoken by Pastor Deb Parkinson of the Rippey United Methodist Church. The organist was Mr. Carson Griffith, and the soloist was Ashley Bebb, his Granddaughter, who sang “I’ll Fly Away”.
The Honorary Casket Bearers were “His Grandchildren”. Casket Bearers were Michael Borgeson, Allen Borgeson, Robert Borgeson, Rick Gannon, Mark Gannon, John Gannon, Hugh Gannon, and Jack Anderson.
Special, special caregivers were Teresa Bebb, Granddaughter, Tammy Calvert, Longtime Friend, and Samantha Knosp, Granddaughter-in-law.
Robert Lacy “Bob” Heater, son of William Heater and Cora Wiant, was born November 1, 1913 in Greene County near Rippey, Iowa and died Friday, February 27, 2009 at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson, Iowa at the age of 95 years, and 3 months, and 26 days. Bob received his schooling at Rippey. Robert married Vera Anschutz on May 4, 1931. They were the parents of Donna, Lyle, Richard, Bill, Kathy, and Lee Ann. Bob and Vera lived two miles west of Rippey all their lives. He was a lifelong farmer in Greene County and raised some of the best beef cattle in the Midwest. Bob severed on the Farmers Mutual Insurance board for many years and also served as president. He was also the township trustee when Rippey purchased the first fire truck. Some of his hobbies were fishing, watching western movies and attending East Greene Basketball games. Bob enjoyed going to Wagonhammer Ranch in Nebraska with his sons to purchase cattle. He was a member of the Elmo Masonic Lodge in Rippey for over 50 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers, George and Francis and his great-granddaughter, Amber Bebb. Bob is survived by his six children; Donna Carlisle (Jack, deceased) Perry, Iowa; Lyle (Bob) Marilyn, Rippey, Iowa; Dr. Richard Heater (Marian) Sacramento, California; Bill (Dolores, deceased) Rippey, Iowa; Kathy Killam (Carl, deceased) East Moline, Illinois; Lee Ann Davis (Brian) Jefferson, Iowa. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
Interment was at the Rippey Cemetery, Rippey, Iowa.
Hastings Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
