Sesquicentennial Minutes 12/1/19
The Rippey Sesquicentennial committee met on Sunday evening December 1, 2019 at 5:30 P.M. in the Library Community Room. 9 persons were present.
$890.00 has been donated since the November meeting. Donations have been received from Jan Scharingson, Ron Ridnour, Eric Gonder, Robin McCauley, Ginger Burrell, Robert Huber, John Rains, Linda Contner Peterson, Dale Robson, and Phyllis Bardole.
The treasury now stands at $12,167.00.
Expenses were paid from the Friends of Rippey and included $35.00 for stamps and $66.00 for printing the post cards that were sent.
Marc Monthei has offered to arrange for a model airplane show, as he has friends in Des Moines who are part of a club. The committee thought that was a good idea. That will be scheduled after the Unity Point helicopter leaves.
Nancy Bardole Hanaman introduced Janet Harbaugh from Raspberry printing. Janet showed several examples of post cards that she has either reproduced as well as new ones. She has about a two week turnaround time. She is willing to donate her labor for the cause. It was suggested by group members we have postcards available for the BRR ride February 1st.
Nancy and Mary and any others who wish to help will make the selection of post cards to be printed.
Dan announced the J and M Display of Yarmouth, Iowa will do 30 minutes of fireworks for $10,000. He had the specifics of types of fireworks that will be used. This fee also covers $10 million insurance coverage, license, and delivery. They have done fireworks for the Wild Rose Casino and the City of Perry. The committee heartily agreed to sign the contract for the fireworks to secure the date.
Review of items to be donated and work detail for the Sesquicentennial Breakfast fundraiser to be held December 7 were reviewed.
Mary had t-shirts and hats for sale that Clark Fessler has donated. The shirts are a quality soft fabric. Several t-shirts as well as caps have been shipped through orders received via the Friends of Rippey Web Site.
The next meeting will be January 5 at 6:30 P.M.
