The Rippey Lions Club for their regular meeting with a potluck meal along with guests, Chris Henning and Bob Rye.
Events for the summer were discussed. Music on Main Street programs will be planned for July and August. There will be a concert on June 24 with the Town and Country Band sponsored by the Friends of Rippey to support renovation at the Rippey Ballpark.Mark Devilbiss and Dale Hanaman will work on trees to be planted for the 100th anniversary of Lions Clubs and the location of playground equipment.
Chris Henning and Bob Rye presented the program, “Pumas, Penguins and Pinnacles,” a wildlife adventure with tour leader, Bob Pease. In addition to a brief visit to Santiago Chili and also to a town where they shared a picture of a Lions Club sign. The traveled to remote areas to view pumas and observed many varieties of rare birds on long hiking trips. Their travels took them from mountain and dessert areas to frigid Tierra del Fuego to view King penguins. They returned from the remote areas to Santiago before their flight back to the United States.
The next meeting will be on May 18 at 7 p.m. Dick Bardole is in charge of the program.
