Students gathered from around Iowa at the state level National History Event competition at the HyVee Events Center. The theme for 2018 “Conflict and Compromise in History” requires student to consider how compromises and conflicts have shaped history on local, state, national and international levels. Winners at the state level are eligible to participate in the national contest in June. Nancy Hanaman will be one of the judges of the documentaries for middle school students. Middle school and high school students also participate with papers, displays, group performances and websites.
