Mel Scearce, bride-elect of Robert Borgeson was honored at a community bridal shower on Saturday, May 12, 2018.  Toni Roberts introduced Mel to the group and  Mel introduced her mother, Pam Chance of Jamaica, her future mother-in-law, Jean Borgeson of Rippey, future sisters-in-law Sarah and Jill Borgeson, both of Rippey, and Jean’s sister, Elayne Bice of Johnston. The attendees then introduced themselves and told how they knew Robert and some had memories to share with Mel. A skit, “The Bridegroom Cometh” was presented by some of our favorite community actors and was centered on the bridal party worrying about the groom, who was so forgetful they thought he might forget the wedding day.  Of course he came in at the last minute, stating he hadn’t forgotten a thing!  (Except his trousers) The bride’s parents, were played by Myron and Maralynn Rinker, the best man, Dale Hanaman, the two bride’s maids were Iva Jo Muir and Bev Derry. The Reverend Squash was played by Pastor Paul Burrow and Roscoe the forgetful groom was Robert, who made the most of his moment of fame.

After a time of visiting and sampling the many deserts, Mel, assisted by her mom, opened her gifts.

The committee included Toni Roberts, Betty Griffith, Maralynn Rinker, Iva Jo Muir, Sharon Laub, Linda Groves, Mary Weaver, Virgene Morse, and DeAnn Scharingson.
