Jean’s Jottings

It was a busy weekend in Rippey.  The activity at the ball field was certainly the talk of the area, and the memories shared from those who played on the field in their youth, either on a Rippey team or those opponents from area clubs, were fun to listen to.  I’m still hoping to find someone how still remembers the game between the Cooper Ladies in August, 1951.  It was a benefit performance for the Rippey club.  Rules for the game were “according to those set up by the Cooper International Ladies Baseball organization. At this point, the significance of this long title is not clear to the Rippey males. Neither is it clear just what the “new rules” will have to offer.” Admission  was 60 cents.  I will bring this up to the older members of the alumni to see if there was a winner! I imagine it provided a lot of laughs!

The ladies of our church served a funeral lunch for the family and friends of Janice Burk Squires on Saturday morning, Janice was a Rippey native and graduated with the class of 1956.   It was a good feeling to be able to serve and mingle with the family and friends who attended.
