Matt Phippen, RAGBRAI Ride Director, and Anne Lawrie, RAGBRAI Cycling Director, both representatives of the Des Moines Register-Gannett made their last pass-through MEETING PLACE to Rippey Tuesday, August 29th.
Mary Weaver, Dan Brubaker, Dale and Nancy Hanaman greeted them. We were all seated for a light lunch and conversation in the community room.
Praise for being the most successful, while having the smallest population of any of the MEETING PLACES, made us Rippey folks very proud.
We listened in amazement to some of the horror stories from arrogant riders shared by Matt. The two did express gratefulness to us by providing small desk type ornaments to be distributed to the numerous volunteers, along with a collage of photos taken in our town.
Dan was invited to provide a quote for the 2024 Handbook, and to speak at the orientation for overnights and meeting towns at the April meeting to be held in Des Moines.
