The meeting was opened by Mary Weaver. The minutes from the previous meeting were approved. Paula presented the written treasurer’s report which included a balance of

$26,316.82 and $875.25 in the fund for fireworks.

Old Business: Review of the Christmas Pancake Breakfast and Santa visit on December 3 at the Library/Community Center. Paula coordinated this event. Approximately 50 children and adult enjoyed the pancakes flipped by Dan Brubaker.

Dan and Marc Monthei have proceeded with the new streetlight with wiring to be arranged.

New Business: Kevin Hick reported for the Rippey Baseball Commission. The Rippey Ruckus games will be played in May with teams already committed and more possible. On May 27, there will be a recognition game to honor the last high school championship game between Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson and St. Mary’s Clinton in 1960. The Commission is in the process of scheduling other games for 2023. The Commission will have a display at the Iowa High School Baseball Association in January to encourage teams to schedule games at Walt Anderson Field. Bids are being solicited for repairs on the grandstand. The group is undecided on whether to pursue a permit to sell alcohol at the BRR Ride and at the baseball field. Fire Department recruitment: locals are interested and are in the process of returning applications. EMT Course: there was discussion about providing scholarship money for local people interested. No decision was made.

Rippey Daze July 22, 2023: Brian Muir was contacted to arrange for the Greene County Cattlemen to grill on that day. Carrie Monthei McCain will be contacting craft vendors. Dan will contact food vendors. Greg Jacobs and Nancy Hanaman with the Rippey Lions Club will coordinate the car show. Dan suggested contacting Mark Day who is involved with car shows, including different classes, prizes for each class, early registration and encouraging early registration with a gift card and a reduced registration could be offered for early registrants. Contact with car shows held within 50 miles with flyers. Mary Weaver noted that Carrie McCain will design posters for the car show and other publicity efforts. Fireworks for Rippey Fun Daze: Dan reported that a 30-minute display now cost $12,500 and down payment will probably be needed for the fireworks people to reserve the date. Kevin said that the Baseball Commission is planning to secure an evening game with the fireworks to follow. Gambling License for Raffles: Mary Weaver will make contact regarding a gambling license for raffles to benefit the Fireworks Fund. A raffle license will be request for 2 years. The cost is $100. A suggestion was made to raffle meat packets. April Easter Egg Hunt and Easter Bunny: Marc Monthei is coordinating this event. There was a suggestion to provide a meal with Sloppy Joes, chips, and bars as a fundraiser. Mary Weaver will contact Mike Denhardt regarding the layout of the Pickle Ball Court north of the ballpark.

The next meeting will be January 8, 7 pm at the Library Community Center. The meeting was adjourned at 8 p.m.
