On Friday, November 5, I attended the Perry High School DramaDepartment’s presentation of The Canterville Ghost, by Tim Kelley based on an Oscar Wilde story. Seth Borgeson, who is a freshman this year, was cast as one of the ghosts trying to discourage the American family from moving into their castle. It was humorous and entertaining. The kids who had to speak with a British accent were especially entertaining.
Also attending the performance were Seth’s grandparents, Chuck and Sharon Patton, aunt Kim Dorr of Perry, and his brother, Jace Johnson of Ames, as well as his parents, Michael and Jill Borgeson and his cousin, Kale Borgeson of Rippey.
THANKS
Many thanks to my family and friends for the birthday greetings sent for my 80th birthday. I was especially tickled, opening the envelope with two birthday cards wishing me a wonderful 40th birthday, simply because she couldn’t find an 80th birthday card she liked!
I’m probably a little prejudiced, picking on her, but those cards were sent from Delores (Morse) Blanshan who was our special flower girl on November 10, 1963. (Ralph picked her and I picked a special little boy for the ring bearer) Only later did her mother, Virgene, relate that as a young teenager living on Park Street in Perry, she remembered how cute it was to watch my mother push a buggy with twins and a little 2 ½ girl (me) “helping” push that buggy. My parents lived in the same neighborhood as her parents! Here we are, still neighbors! I love those kinds of stories that connect families! Lucky me!!
