Jean’s Jottings

Sunday morning, I received a text from my daughter-in-law, Sarah, wondering if I could help her with something around 1:30. I did wonder briefly what she would ever need me to help her with, but my mind was busy with other things.

When I walked in, who should appear around the corner, but my daughter Linda, from Chandler, AZ and my niece, Lara Lissick from Inver Grove Heights, MN. Linda had flown to Minneapolis to attend a surprise party for a former Central College Football coach, Larry Happel.  Linda was a manager for the team during those years and many friends were there to share his birthday surprise so lots of memories shared and a new memory made for all to enjoy..

Lara picked her up Sunday morning to stay overnight with them, but decided to first make the trip to Iowa to see those who could gather at Alan and Sarah’s. My other two sons, Michael, with his son, Seth, and Robert showed up as well as Alan and Sarah’s son, Kane, and Ally Gehling.

Before long, a knock on the door and my sister and her husband, Elayne and Dean Bice of Johnston walked in. Soon after, their two kids and their spouses,  Chris and Beth Bice of Ankeny and Dena and Dave Losen of Urbandale showed up. The conversation in the room is always lively with the cousins but this day it was turned up a notch.  Two hours later, everyone had left and Linda and Lara were headed back to MN. Monday morning, Lara drove Linda to the airport for her flight home,

I never did find out what “Sneaky Sarah” needed!
