In July of 2023, RAGBRAI came through Rippey, Iowa. The Rippey Public Library did a fundraiser during that day and has been able to purchase some non-traditional items with this money. First, we were able to get a new vacuum and professionally clean the carpets in the library. Next, one may have seen our new led open signs.
But the most interesting items purchased with this RAGBRAI fundraiser money was our “Library of Things” items? What is a “Library of Things?” It is a collection of non-traditional items available for check-out. We have several teen/adult board games, including Tapple, Taboo, Sushi Go Party etc. We have several Outdoor or Lawn Games, including Corn Hole/Bags, Giant Connect Four, Ladder Toss etc. We have a couple Pickleball Paddle sets, as well. Lastly, we have an Outdoor Movie Set-Up with a giant inflatable screen and projector.
These items can be checked out for 3 days at a time and can be renewed twice for a total of 9 days, unless another person wants an item. There is a guideline sheet for each person for these items, so that we can get them back for the next person.
This fundraiser has been helpful in getting these unique items for the Rippey Public Library and continuing our mission to aid in meeting educational, cultural, and recreational needs of our patrons/people who come to the library.
